Coronation Celebrations
|
In the lead up to the King's Coronation, colleagues joined in the celebrations by dressing up and decorating a ward, department or window. They were also encouraged to take part in the King's Big Help Out on Monday 8 May and volunteer to help a neighbour or community event.
We personally visited colleagues at Ashford and St Peter's and handed out coronation cakes and delivered cakes to Woking and Milford sites. Staff were invited to submit photos of their best coronation decorations and the lucky winner of the competition will appear on the next edition of the Aspire magazine.
There was a coronation menu for staff to enjoy at both sites and we planted a tree at St Peter's to commemorate this historical occasion.

We were proud to celebrate our Pride in Nursing and Midwifery Day which took place face to face at St Peter's Hospital on 12 May. Our Pride in Nursing and Midwifery Day is an annual event which recognises the amazing work of our Nursing and Midwifery colleagues. The event marks both International Day of the Midwife on 5 May each year, and International Nurses Day on 12 May.
We were joined by a number of inspiring speakers and our event was once again chaired by Joanne Bosanquet, Chief Executive of the Foundation of Nursing Studies (FoNS) and we welcomed Acosia Nyanin, South East Regional Chief Nurse, who joined virtually.
This was the first time since 2019 that we handed out awards to nurses, midwives, healthcare support workers and maternity support workers to thank them for the incredible work and dedication.

Hospital to Home
|
|
We recently launched a Golden Patient certificate for those patients identified for next day discharge.
These patients now have a Hospital 2 Home Banner by their bedside highlight to everyone, specifically the night staff, to prepare the patient and necessary documents / medications.
This ensures the patient can be transferred to the Discharge Lounge at the earliest opportunity.

NHS 75 Birthday Celebrations on 5th July
|
|
The NHS marks its 75th birthday this year and as part of the celebrations, one of the key events will be a multi-faith service for NHS staff, volunteers and partners at Westminster Abbey, London on Wednesday 5 July. Five lucky ASPH winners were drawn from a ballot and invited to attend!
In support of the NHS@75 conversation, we held a round table discussion on Tuesday 23 May at Ashford Hospital for staff to have their say about the future of the NHS and we will also be marking the occasion at our community day on 15 July with appropriate celebrations.

Our ASPH Charity are encouraging staff, friends and families to do a #75 challenge and raise funds for our paediatric wards to benefit children and young patients. If you are interested in fund raising, click here or scan the QR code.
